Hi, I've been messing around with my first electro recording utilizing digital pianos, acoustic guitars, vocals and a programmed drum kit. I use Sonar x1 which has heaps of different options regarding groove quantizing eg. shuffle,hard shuffle, soft shuffle, lazy, early, late etc Beyond that we also have a swing option between 0 and 100%. I'm very confused as where to start, as auditioning each change is time consuming and there are so many options I don't even know where to start.
I think the drums just set to grid are too rushed and robotic, and I have had small amounts of success with the groove function set to lazy or early or late, but then it introduces other problems. Any tips? Do programs other than Sonar offer these groove quantize options and are they useful?
