I have a MOTU 828mkII with a couple sound modules plugged into it. The 828 has the option of receiving a gain input of either -10dbu or +4dbv (correct me if I'm wrong, I think those are the correct abbrev.) on its 8 analog inputs. Based on my readings in this forum I understand that I'm generally supposed to be hooking up line level equipment at +4dbv. Things such as cd players, cassette decks, etc. are supposed to run at -10dbu. I've found that if I run the modules at the -10dbu level I can get more amplitude in my soundbites when I record from MIDI to audio soundbites than I can with the +4dbv level, without any clipping issues. Since this is the case, is there anything wrong with doing it this way? Are there any setbacks that I might not know about? Thanks
