EQ- "Notch"

A Notch filter is for finding a problematic Freq. like a hum
or noise from a fan etc...

Notch filters have a very narrow bandwidth, they are usually sweepable and in many cases cut only.

I had also asked earlier about eleminating string noise from a recording. Would it work in that application? Just move the "notch" to the narrow range of problem frequencies?

Thanks Shailat,

It should work also.
Just search for the specific Freq., (using a parametric EQ) that is the problem by Boosting the bands, and then search through untill you hit it ( you'll hear the problem stand out ).
Then go to your notch and cut that specific freq.

Another usefull trick is to use a De esser. Do you have one?
