wow...lotz of opinions on mixers....let me inject mine:
Macke mixers...great specs...you'll pay for that...Behringer...the deals of the century, since they started up manufacturing operations in China...not quite the specs of a comparable Macke, but more features...Spirit by Soundcraft (British)...specs as good as Macke, more features, and usually a little less expensive (kinda hard to find, though...hey..somebody has to suck hind tit!)
Which should you buy?...
purely on specs: Macke or Spirit. (Behringer specs are not shabby, though)
purely on price: Behringer.(but you might get a deal on a Spirit if you look hard)...check out a Spirit Folio F8, with on-board Lexicon FX.
I have no first-hand knowledge of Alesis
or Samson mixers, but they also have models
that qualify as pro equipment, and would have something in the 500 dollar range.
