Can anyone tell me how to go about copying a wave file from sonar le on to cd for mastering outside house. Do i just copy it as a data fiile ?. And is it best just to record my tracks without messing with eq and compression and so on........cheers

Just copy it as a data file. Hopefully you're exporting your mix without changing the format (bits/sampling frequency).

Do whatever you want at the track level. Don't put anything on the master bus unless it's something special you want creative control of (like, for example, a filter to make it sound like old radio). Pretty much anything you can do on the master bus the mastering engineer can do better.

I say do whatever you need to on the individual tracks, subgroups, and master bus to get it to sound the way you think it should. Ideally the mastering engineer will have nothing to do except for final leveling and sequencing. Maybe a fade here or there and a touch of EQ to get a group of mixes to sound like a cohesive album. I guess I would leave off the brickwall limiter, volume maximizer type crap.

Talk to the master engineer and ask what format he'd prefer.
