Got a Show Comming up...How Do We Get A Review?

Okay, We've got zero, when it comes to actual "press" clippings when it comes to our band. Is there any good, or easy way, to try and invite a paper, zine...or whatever or something to review it? There are a couple issues that might hinder that...

1. We're playing a reletively small club that only has live music 2 times a week
2. It's San Francisco...most papers seem too big to review us.

There are probably some little music zines or something in the area that might be interested.

Any advice?

Call, fax, email everyone big or small.
Make your invitation look pro.....spend a few bucks to get it done right.
Make the gig happen every three months and keep the same format up. Eventually someone will see the name and think " I have heard of these guys before must be good" even though they already threw out your last two invites cause they were to busy to think.
Get real tickets made up for your show with a $10.00 cover on them and give them to friends who you know can get them to people will will show up. When there is a value associated to your performance and people think they are getting a deal they are much more likely to show up.
