Copyrighting and Publishing youtr music (step by step)

is there any guide that we can follow step by step ?
what's involved in copyright or / and publish ?
is the same copyright and publish ?
ASCAP is international ?
From the steps i know :
1 Create the tune
2 Record it professional (im guessing)
3 Publish it ..( what you need for it ? )
please for you that know the procedure give us advice

In the US, you can get many of your questions answered at

www.copyright.gov

Essentially, 'copyright' means you have created an original piece of work and have a tangible record of it. Sending in forms to a governing agency only registers the date of the creation of your work.

I'm not sure if by 'publishing' you're meaning distribute?
