Damn that's a lot of pirate stations! We have like 5 'real' stations here, and that's it...I was gonna try to start up a pirate thing a few years ago, but there's no market for it, i'm the only one that listens to good music around here :D

Federal Communications Commission or something like that. They're the ones that come knocking on your door and shut you down when they find out you're running a pirate station :) You have to be a huge corporation to get on the airwaves here in the good ol' US of A...

We dont have that in the US. I guess they decided it was too dangerous to allow broadcatsed information without Mcdonalds and Nike advertisements. He He he..he land of the free....he he he....
I guess the FCC are trying to loosen up the restrictions on low wattage(pirate) broadcasters to offset the fact that their de regulations have led to a handfull of large corporations owning all radio, and playing the same somgs over and over. But not much has happened.

Needless to say the only radio station in minnesota worth listening to is www.kfai.org ... But half the time its community shows with lots of talking, and not in english(somolian, ethiopian, mung). But theres some really cool shows on there too. Thats the only radio I can stomach besides the public station.

Yeah In the UK we have the DTI which drive around all week cutting off peoples tranmitters normally, and occasionly finding our studios. Every Station normally gets locked off once a week. but most of the big ones are back on within a couple of hours. All good fun! Adds to the exitment really! hahah And means a lot of people get to hear the music that is not being played by the legal stations
