makin beats, usin samples, old skool, hip hop

first off, any tips with samples? i'll be sampling off records...just wondering where to start really.

second, how can i get a kind of lo-fi (not really low fi...ha) sound with my beats - like you'd find in mass hiphop, lots of oldskool too i'd say.

third, hi-tech has made some of my favorite beats, if my shit sounded like that, i'd be happy as hell...anysuggestions?

lastly, some of the beats i've made already (about a year old though).. www.mp3.com/quad_5_trio .

i got new beats with me, nothing that is done yet though.

Hey Spin..You know tru-enuff(Rapper from the Chi).MIKE DUNN on the track...Dude that been getting play on his single "On my momma" signed with Universal Records a couple weeks ago....I guess will see a video real soon from that single
