Dynamic Workstation that is portable and shiney?

Hey all, I figured you guys would know more about this subject than many of the other subforums.What I do? basically acoustical covers, did underground hip hop for many years however. I currently have an MPC 2500...which I have used to create drums for my cover songs. It's a bit clunky overall and not exactly easily portable. What I am looking for is something more modern with a wider range of capabilities. For example, I can download a backing track with instruments and drums via a karaoke site....I would like to easily transport those files into a machine fast and have it ready to be qued. As well I would like this machine to have internal sounds that I can create drum tracks etc. What machine would be good for this? As good as the classic MPC 2500 is, I believe it's outdated.

I'd be willing to bet you could do what you wanted with an Ipad, some recording software and an interface. With the proper cables pump it all out to a pa.
Basically, you are perforimg live over some backing tracks.
