What Bits am I recording at?

Hey there, I am using SonarXL to record with. I have a Santa Cruz soundcard, now the Santa Cruz has 18bit D/A and 20bit A/D. Does Sonar default to 16bit? Or is there a way to make the Bit rate Higher in Sonar? And is there even a option for 18bit? And if not what should I use?

C7, you are correct to record at 24 bit....of course Ive heard cases, with the Guillemot Isis I believe, where it has 20 bit converters but you can only record at 16bit...not sure if thats true, but it may depend on the card.....
