pre amp

Quick Question,
If i want to connected a a dynamic mic to the m audio delta10/10 will i need a pre amp, can i get away without one or will the signal be to low
 
i have recorded an entire 5 song demo for a local band and it was before i knew about pre amps and such. You will probably get a pretty strong signal...at least i did with my terratec soundcard...but it sounded like $h!T. My card doesnt have builtin pre's but i do have gain levels that i can set and is also switchable from -10dbv to +4dbu
 
I think the 1010LT has 2 XLRs with built-in preamp channels, meaning you don't necessarily need an external preamp. The regular 1010, with the breakout box, does not. I don't know about the quality of the built in pres in the LT, though. If you aren't satisfied with the sound, look into getting a dedicated mic pre.
