patern based drum machine for pc

Just looking for ideas for a pattern based drum machine.I use PCDrummer,which works but is a pretty cheap and somewhat dysfunctional program.I couldn't make much sense of fruity loops when I tried the demo,but should probably try again.
Idealy,I'd like to see something that is a virtual replica of a hardware drum machine.I used an Alesis HR16 for years and loved it.
