hey,
this is likely a basic q, so i apologize in advance for any redundancy :-( i did briefly search.
some background, i have had an adat based home studio for several years and am just entering the daw/pc world.
i've been searching thru all the product specs for sound cards,software and such, and one basic question eludes me. all the manufacturer specs state how many tracks can be recorded simultaneously and some how many can be monitored while tracking. but how many can be be monitored during mixdown? is this dependant on the software or the soundcard? my reason for asking is that being able to track only 4 tracks simultaneously is not a problem for me, but i will certainly need to monitor at least 24 tracks during mixdown. not too mention effects sends and such.
