Okay so question #1 is if im getting a firepod would i need a firewire in my soundcard or would a regular firewire do okay?

#2 is should I get computer speakers and monitors or would computer speakers be a waste of money?

1) I beleive a non-soundcard firewire port will work just fine for recieving input.

2) It depends. Is your computer solely for recording/mixing, or do other things such as games with surround, etc. matter to you? I'm not sure the stance on using monitor speakers for the everyday uses of a computer in terms of wear-and-tear (wouldn't think it'd hurt). Some better-than-average computer speakers (like Klipsch) wouldn't be bad as a hi-fi second opinion for your mixes.

firewire's just fine. i use my laptop's firewire port with it.

& real monitor's really help if you're doing the mixing there.
when i play through my PA or laptop speakers, or even decent headphones, there's such a big difference when i listen to it back on my desktop that has a good sound system.
