Active or Passive Monitors!?!

Whats the difference between acitve or passive monitors? Which one is recommended?

from what I understand, active monitors are powered and passive are not, meaning you'll need an amp to power the speakers such as the Alesis Monitor One

you kinda worded that awkwardly.. alexis monitor ones are passive (almost positive) the M1's are active (almost positive) and the alesis power amp is called the ra-100 or something like that... regardless, monitor ones are not a power amp...

Passive speakers = U NEED AN AMP

Active speakers = They have an amp built in

so... hope U got the grasp of it now =)
