24/96 for cd?

Should I even bother recording in 24/96 if my intent is to burn to cd. Right now I am and then converting to 16 bit. I think I'm at least going to change to 24/44.1, but does anyone have any thoughts on what is best for best end result on cd. Sound quality is all I care about here.

Stay at the highest resolution possible until you actually burn the CD, IF you are doing any sort of DSP (digital signal processing).

If you aren't doing ANY DSP at all, then mix right to 44/16....
