1010lt and Delta 44 Omni Users - question

I am looking to set up a small overdub rig. I already have a few nice pres (RNP) and nice mics and a computer (2ghz, gig ram, 2 drives spinning at 7200rpm) and I am running Sonar.

My needs are:
Stereo output to monitor amp for mixing
Two headphones
2 inputs

I am considering the following:

--------
option 1
--------
Delta 1010lt
- assign 2 outs to stereo l/r (into monitor amp for listening and mixing)
- assign 2 outs to stereo l/r (into headphone amp)
- assign 2 outs to stereo l/r (for normal computer speakers and general PC use)
- assign 2 ins to record and attach to my RNP

Apex aha4 headphone amp (or other 1 in 4 out headphone amp)
- input from the 1010lt
- output to 2 headphones

$200 Delta 1010lt
$ 50 headphone amp
----
$250 total cost

--------
Option 2
--------
Delta 44
- assign 2 outs to stereo l/r (into monitor amp for listening and mixing)
- assign 2 outs to stereo l/r (into headphone amp)
- assign 2 ins to record and attach to my RNP

Apex aha4 headphone amp (or other 1 in 4 out headphone amp)
- input from the 44
- output to 2 headphones
- use extra headphone output to run to pc speakers for general use

$140 Delta 44
$ 50 headphone amp
----
$190 total
---------------------------------
Again, my needs are recording 1 (maybe 2) tracks at 24/96 at a time, being able to hear the beds and monitor the live sound through two (2) sets of headphones, extra outputs that can be run to my monitor amp for mixing, and a way to send normal computer sounds to my cheap PC speakers, and I want to be able to do it all without crawling under my computer all the time... hook it up and let it sit!

So my questions are:

Could I leave the onboard audio configured as it is and just continue to use that for regular computer sounds? They will only be used when my wife is at the computer checking email or surfing the web.

Will I be able to direct monitor the mic inputs through the headphones as I am recording (no need for effects or anything, just direct monitor)?

Any reasons why either of the above will not work?

Any thing I am over looking?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jim

Either of those cards will work for you, but I think the way the monitor mix works, you can only monitor off outs 1&2 (on both cards). On the remaining outs you can only only hear what's already been recorded.
Personally I run 1&2 from my 44 into a mixer, and from there to monitors, headphones, amp etc.
