Whats the truth about the motu 828?

Has anyone taken out the Motu 828 for a spin yet? I have read brilliant writups about this product can anyone direct me on whether it is a good buy? It seems to be all what a musician with a medium budget who needs mobility ever dreamt of.
 
I don't have the ear that some people seem to have here, but my MOTU 828 works great with my little dell laptop and a 28 dollar PCMCIA firewire card... 8 in 8 out works fine. Haven't played with the direct monitoring stuff yet (cuemix), but prolly will soon.

Sonar loves the thing -- vegas didn't like recording more than 4 tracks simultaneously (but that's prolly cuz my machine is a p2/266 ;) ) -- cuabase and asio also love it, but need a bit of config to run with no distortion...
