I have a d630 with firewire and a firewire card witha core duo 2.19 ghz processor and four gigs of ram. Is it better to use a external firewire drive and a smaller hard drive. I am having a terrible time with the buffers. It either goes blue screen or the engine stops. I am using sonor x2 essentials and an Alesis multimix fire wire 16 board. any suggestions as to a cure for this headache.
Thanks for the help

FireWire is seeming to become harder to work with. Windows isn't supporting it very well anymore. What version of windows are you using?

Are you using a firewire care with TexasInstruments chips?
That's pretty much a requirement for audio interfaces.
