Hi there,

I am planing to buy a new video card for my PC, strong enough to run a video at the same time with Logic Audio Platinum 5.5 were I will be arranging music for that video.

The card that I have in mind is a PROLINK GF FX5700 256MDD PDF with VI/VO and DVI out. Its based on a GeForce 5700 GPU and has 256 MB of DDR RAM.

Is it a good choice? Anybody else has this card? Are there any known issues with it?

Here are a few details of my system:
Processor: AMD 1,3 GHz
MoBO: QDI Kinetiz 7EA with VIA chipset
RAM: 512 SDRAM
Soundcard: M-Audio Delta 44
Env.: Windows 2000 Profesional SP4

Download a track of mine over here: http://www.makemusic.gr/artist/bands/81/music.php

nVidia cards are gaming cards optimized for 3D gaming - nothing else. Video quality is actually inferior to other cards from ATI and Matrox.

If you want reliable performance for what you're doing, I would invest my money in one of Matrox's newer cards (P-series or Parhelia). I own the P650 myself and do DAW work as well as video production.

With these cards, you can have a dual montior setup and still connect an external analog TV monitor to output the video:

One thing you should be aware of is PCI Express. This new tech is supposed to replace PCI and AGP slots, and if I'm correct many computers should be using this new tech as soon as this fall. Of course that doesn't mean your AGP video card will be useless, it's just something to think about if you plan on using this card for a long time.

Just something to think about if you plan on spending a lot on a new video card, or sound card as well. Also, if you don't know, PCI Express is NOT compatible with PCI, so any PCI or AGP card you buy now won't work on a computer with PCI Express slots.....unless it has slots for both types of cards, but I don't know if any motherboard manufacturers are planning on doing that.

Not true. M-Audio has a "PCI-X ready" logo on all the product pages for their Delta series cards now.
