Is there a SW synthesizer compatible with SoundFonts and Vienna SoundFont Studio?

Want to experiment with MIDI and SoundFonts on my IBM T30 laptop running WIN2K. No sound card. All it has is SoundMax digital Audio and Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth.

Installed Vienna Soundfont Studio 2.3 but it fails to start with the following error:
"Unable to initialize the SoundFont Compatible device driver. There is no SoundFont Compatible device detected....."

1- Is there a Software synthesizer compatible with SoundFonts and Vienna SoundFont Studio?

2- Is there another way to work with Soundfonts on a laptop/PC that doesn't have a compatible sound card?
