Tascam 388 + Delta 1010 8 Analog ins + 2 Channel ADC via s/pdif
Seeking advice on ADC and configuration to send the Stereo Bus from Mixer to Delta 1010 s/pdif in.
I would like to record the 8 PGM outs and Stereo Bus Out simultaneously.
I've looked at the Mytek Stereo 96 ADC, RME ADI-2, and Apogee Mini-Me as my starting point attempting to understand how wordclock is involved with the addition of the ADC, but additional clarity specific to my goals will be greatly appreciated.
Some info from a thread that stuck:
"Even proper word clock distribution systems are far from ideal, but S/PDIF is particularly flawed, and should have no role in any transmission that involves clock recovery."
Assuming best option is BNC with something like the Mytek as master clock and only 2 channel audio via s/pdif into the Delta 1010 PCI Card.
I like the idea of having 2 channels of HQ conversion for bringing the final mix from tape, but would like to track an entire session digitally as well to preserve the entire process.
Or maybe the Delta 1010 is a dinosaur and should be replaced? (Thinking under $1000 used market: RME Multiface II?)
