I did recorded some tracks but im plugging the microphones directly to the computer's soundcard.. i'm plannin to advance and buy a new soundcard and a mic preamp.. i got a creative soundblaster soundcard.. do i have to buy a new soundcard to have a better recording quality? or maybe does it all depends on the mic preamp and the mics? I got a SM58 microphone, i'm plannin to go for a new soundcard and a preamp.. what do u advise me to purchase that will fit me? tnx..

when it comes to those Creative soundcards it's both the preamps and the A/D converters that make the sound quality suffer. I'd definitely say take a look at getting a new soundcard if you want better quality recordings. http://m-audio.com is a good place to start.

At least go to an Emu card. I had a Sound Blaster. It is no where near as good as the Emu. Although I mainly use the Emu just as a sound card. My D/A converter is a MOTU 828mkII. The Emu would still give very clean audio to your computer.
