Sound Cards & Audio Interfaces

An audio interface is a sound card. Just generally geared toward music production, rather than gaming or just general sound that more likely use the term sound card instead.
 
Well, although you don't *have* to have a sound card, it's generally a good idea. You probably don't want system beeps going out through your monitor speakers at top volume.

Well, all motherboards come with some form of in-built sound card for your regular purpose stuff.
 
Not worried about system sounds - always turn 'em off!

The main reason for asking this question was to see if I need to invest in a good quality sound card or just settle for what I have.
