Simple pod casting setup

I'm looking for a simple home audio setup to enable me to do some voice-overs on videos and podcasting etc.
I work mostly on a laptop with Adobe Premier and use tools like Audacity for audio editing.

Here is what I am thinking :

  • Behringer C-1U seems to get good reviews.
  • AT2020 is also getting great reviews but is perhaps overkill and a bit pricey for my purposes.
  • I'm thinking something like DT150s for monitoring, but they are pricey.

I can't decide if I should get USB mics or a simple USB mixer with XLR Mics.
I want to keep costs down so USB mixer adds a layer of cost.
But something like the DT150s will need more than a 3.5mm output to drive them anyway.

I'm also after a decent floor mic stand with boom, pop shield, shock mount and an audio booth/surround.

trying to do this < £200 (280EUR, 300USD )

What do you recommend?

Don't get a USB mixer - get a USB audio interface. Using an interface will mean you can change microphones with the switch of a cable, allow you to use more than one input (if you get the appropriate inteface). With a USB mic, you are limited to using just it as yoru audio interface and typically the monitoring options wiht one are limited.

I assumed a USB mixer had an audio interface built in?

What about something like Focusrite Scarlett Solo Studio ?
they do a pack with mic and headphones.
