SE440bx-2 question

In the manual that comes with the MB it's written that the board suports onlt Pen II processors. This must be a mistake ?. The board was givin to me in a open box and they put the missing cables etc.. together for me ( I knew about this)so it could be they gave me the wrong booklet. I own a pen III 500.

I'm having problems with the computer reconizing the the pen III. It could be a different problem but I'm now worried that the board doesn't support the Pen III.

Are there 2 different SE440Bx-2
 
Write down the serial number and go check Intel's website. Some SE440BX boards are older; the -2 probably means you're alright, but you can verify it there. While you're there you can download the BIOS and also a PDF file of the manual and Update Notes that you can print out. The SE440BX-2 boards with the latest BIOS should be able to support up to PIII-800's.

Well Emeric I bought this board on yours and slacks recemendation, So it better work or else..... :)

Actully I got it to work - the problem was a bad cable.

This is my last PC next one is a Mac I've had it
