Recording a 2nd track with Digi 001

I've recorded a rythem track using the Digi 001. Now I want to record a lead over that track. I'm able to record on track # 2, but I cannot hear track # 1. How do I set up the Digi 001 so that I can hear previously recorded tracks while recording new ones. Below is how I recorded track #1:

I plugged my guitar into Mic #1
Then I pressed

File>
New Track> (Created 1 New Audio Track)

In the transport window I pressed the record button
Then I pressed the Record-Enable button
Pressed the space bar and began recording track # 1

When I went to record track # 2 I removed the guitar cord from Mic #1 jack and placed it into Mic #2 jack. Then I pressed

File>
New Track (Created another new audio track)

I went to the transport window and pressed the reccord button and then pressed the record-enable button. Pressed the space bar and track #2 began to record, but I couldn't get track # 1 to sound. How do I do this?

Please help.

Sincerely,
Elisa

When tracking #2, disengage the record button on track one.

Also - You don't have to unplug your guitar from the pre.
Leave it pluged in but change in the mixer the input channel from
mic/line2 to mic/line1

Thanks, Shailat!

Shailat,

Do you use the Digi001/ProToolsLE or Pro Tools itself?
You just answered a question, not only for Elisa but for
me as well. Thank you for that.

There are Forums for CoolEditPro, n-Track and other
programs and formats of recording, and there is a lot
of good help and information shared in them. My system
is IMAC G-4/Digi001 running ProTools LE. This has proven
to be a more stable, crash free system vs the PentiumIII
system I initially built. However there is no forum for Pro Tools.

I will post a poll to determine how many of us use Pro Tools
and in what form, ie ProTools LE, Pro Tools 5.1, or Pro Tools
Free and with what system. Granted there are other resources
available such as Digidesign's website and forums, but I think
there is a need for exchange of ideas here too.

Thanks once again

I use the PTLE to edit at home and play around with some demos, and the big Pro Tools at work.

If you have any more questions just ask.
