Quick way to silence breaks in an audio track (in Cubase)

Hi, I have to edit a song that is full of stop and go's, and I was wondering if there was a quicker way to insert silences where the breaks are, without manually selecting each area of the wave and silencing it. Any suggestions? Thanks

I take it more stops than you'd want to do with automation?

Noise gate. But to get the settings right might take as long to do as editing in the silence.
