A question on chip/motherboard compatibility

I have a 300mhz amd k6/2 3dnow system with 64megs ram and a 100mhz motherboard.
I have a limited budget to upgrade for home audio at the moment and I was wondering If an amd athlon chip would fit in the motherboard or it would just be better to get a faster harddrive.

The Athlon will not fit on a super7 board. Different design, different chipset.

Faster hard drive wouldn't hurt. 7200RPM Quantums and IBM's are nice.

If you do plan on upgrading the chip - check out the ASUS CUBX mainboard and maybe look at getting a celeron 500 or 600.
