Proposed DAW for Sonar 4

Before I go ahead and order this I thought I would run it by people who are in the know.

Get a bigger hd for audio. No motu on pc...RME all the way. Add a dvd-rom as well for about $25, or burner for about $75. Backing up to DVD will make you much happier than cd's...I have some DVD-RW's and they make my life very easy when it comes to backing up. Make sure you get a premium firewire card since that will be the interface to the computer for the Fireface.

Check out used Sun GDM-5410 21" monitors on ebay...you can probably get 2 for about $300. They are top of the line Sony Trinitrons branded by Sun Microsystems that retailed for over $1000 about 3 years ago...I use two myself...they run 1280*1024 at 100hz refresh, and look fantastic.

Go with the 90nm version of the 3500+ since they run significantly cooler than the 1.3um versions. I believe they are know as the "Venice" core.

Also for a cheap interface check out a Digidesign R1 from the old "Session 8" system, you should be able to find one pretty cheap, and works great as a generic controller on Sonar.

Is that video card fanless? If not consider looking for one that is, and definetly one that is dual-headed.
