Profire 2626 and Project Mix I/O

I have the m-audio 2626 and the projectmix i/o I would like to only use the project mix as a control surface and the 2626 as my interface. How would I do so?

You'd have to connect them both to the computer via firewire, not via light pipe. And then I think you'd just use the outputs of the 2626 instead of the project mix. Seriously though, just ditch the project mix especially if you can't not use it as the default device. Get another 2626, then you have 16 pres with up to 192 khz sample rate, and you can also expand further via lite pipe. I used to have one, and I actually have a 2626 now that I use on one rig, and I have an HD rig as well. I don't use any control surface at all. I bought a trackball and just mix with that these days. I found myself using the mouse most of the time anyways when I had the project mix. The only thing that I really used on the control surface were the mute, solo and arm buttons and the transport controls.
