Hey guys

I know , the signal should never clip/peak because the distortion of the sound and etc.

but the other day i was recording and we changed a distortion setting (in a guitar amp) and i forgot to adjust the gain
when i looked back at my interface, it's lights were red peaking

can this affect the way my interface sounds or transmits the signal, is it bad for it ?

Nope. We were talking about this in class recently, and as far as the interface itself goes, it should still be fine.
Of course, we were talking about if you did it to a mixer, but same basic concept... I mean, if you tracked EVERYTHING at that hot all day and just ran the interface like that for a 16 hour tracking period, you might tire out the pre-amps, but for just the short burst of loudness you had, it shouldn't cause any problems.

Ay? What's that you say? Speak up. I can hear you.

Years and years of tracking and mixing on Max volume. Sorry. :listeningmusic:
