nuendo samplerate problem with edirol ua-5?

ok... i'm at the end of my rope. i'm using nuendo 2 on winxp with my edirol ua-5 usb audio interface and i'm about to pull my hair out.

i keep getting the "samplerate could not be set. this may be due to the sampleclock being set to external sync." error whenever i try to open songs that i've had for a while now. the songs will actually play but the tracks get way out of sync really quickly and i have no idea what to do about this.

earlier tonight i was able to record three new tracks on a brand new song but i even got this error when i tried to create a new project.

i've uninstalled and reinstatalled the drivers and nuendo and that doesn't help. does anyone have any idea what i can do to fix this?

btw, i'm shannon. nice to meet you and thanks!

Are you using the WDM drivers or the unified drivers?

And these are the obvious:

- is the right driver properly selected in the device setup.
- make sure "release ASIO driver in backround" is not selected.

thanks for the reply

yeah, i'm using the wmd drivers.

under device setup where you can chose the asio driver it has 3 choices
*ASIO Directx Full Duplex Driver
*ASIO Multimedia Driver
*Edirol UA-5

i have the edriol ua-5 selected. clock source set to internal (it's the only option) release asio driver... and direct monitoring are both unchecked.
