Hi there,
you will have to excuse me, as i'm not the most tech savy person out there, so if I don't use the proper jargon to explain things I appologies.
I recently bought a new laptop-a toshiba. anyhoo, I was told at the point of sale that new pc laptops do not come with firewire. Which was a problem as I use a presonus firestudio (which has firewire). They said no problem, made some changes to the machine so that an exterior firewire card may be incerted.
problem is that it doesn't seem to want to record property through this process-everything comes through choppy, skipping to differnet areas where it collected the data etc. (See attached file).
I played some old recordings through my monitors (via my firestudio), and when played through my studio monitors it played a similar way-choppy and skipping. when played through my laptop speakers it sounds property. this makes me believe that it is the exterior firewire card that is not allowing the information to flow through properly.
has anyone else had a problem similar to this, and are there any solutions out there?
