Hi,
I'm about to buy a soundcard/-interface to use with Sonar 2.0.
As I'm keen on a control surface as well I have narrowed the list down to the following:

- Edirol UR-80 - http://www.edirol.com/products/info/ur80.html
- Tascam US428 - http://www.tascam.com/Products/US-428.html

I'm planning on using it for recording vocals, gitar, bass and synth. Primarily one at the time. For vocals I'm going to buy a condesor mic. The whole lot is going to run on a Fujitsu Siemens AMILO A1630 laptop.

I have some concerns regarding latency on the 2 interfaces, and the fact that the tascam is from 2001 (?).

I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions / recommendations!

Thanks!

Hey man,
Which interface did you end up bying (if you already have)? I have the UR-80, so i can maybe answer a couple questions you might have.

I don't know about the UR-80, but the US428 lacks phantom power. This could be a problem with a condensor, esp since inexpensive outboard p.p. units can be noisy.

BTW, I have the US428, and it works great as a control surface with Adobe Audition.
