Need help with a computer and interface

Ok, I've got a little bit of calkwalk experience and now I want to build a pc only for the purpose of audio recording. So I need to know what I should get. I would like to have 2 HDs. I've also been looking at ECHO, Ardvark and m-audio. Whats I would like to spend about $500 on the interface and I'm sure on the computer price yet. Any help would be appreciated.

chomskyrocks a bit of a nonsequiter here but i assume you live in the dallas area???? If so , I might be able to find some time to give you a hand.... im always looking for musicians to jam/record with and whatnot. dont have much experience with cakewalk more of a cubase user here. lemme know if you are interested

Chomsky's not so bad, i could never get over how bad their live sound was though, maybe thats changed now that their on a bigger label now...
