PLEASE!!! could someone tell me if this is good enough to handle mostly vocal recording:

9GB IDE HDD
P III 500 mhz processor
112 mb ram
sound blaster live 5.1 sound card

Is this adiqaute enough to handle single track vocal recording....please tell me how good my system for this funtion.

thanks

Yup. Your system should be more than adequate to do quite a few tracks.

The only thing you might want to look into would be a 24 bit sound card. The one you have will do the job just fine, but if you're using a high-end mic, and you're going to want to use a lot of effects while retaining all of the life & sparkle, then you'd do better with a 24 bit card.

obviously, your pc specs have no direct relation to the quality of vocal recording....what does relate is the quality of the mic, the pre amp and the a/d converters..........if you are using external hardware, like a pre amp and a mixer or both or neither, and know how to use a mic, you can get a great sound out of a soundblaster at 16 bit.
