the p2 is hanged and it couldn't operate so i brought just HD to check and the stor esaid it fine and reinstal win98
but it has no midi driver in it and i can't install any mididriver to it
i can do only driver of gina
How can i have midi back?
please
or have to change to a new HD?
thnx

The MIDI driver, while stored on the HD, has nothing to do with the HD. The one you want will be the one that's written for your MIDI port.
Are you using a soundcard MIDI port, a motherboard MIDI port or an external MIDI port?

Ðéthnx
let me explain it
i open control panel and the midi page is greyed out
what's the different between scard midiport and external port?
apart from gina audiodrive
i think the midi is from Avance card ( ordinary soundcard )
i tried install the driver of it several times to no success

I use an external MIDI converter and this requires a different driver from a MIDI port on a typical soundcard.
Most soundcards use a joystick port that is converted for MIDI use by a joystick port to dual (in/out) MIDI DIN cable.
The external box uses only 5-pin DIN MIDI jacks.
The box connects to the PC via the parallel port using a modified printer cable. They're available at most computer stores as a straight through parallel cable as opposed to a printer cable.
(USB models are available as well- MUCH cooler!)
If the installation software for that Avance card doesn't work, I'd contact them if possible for a replacement driver.
Maybe the soundcard died? That's mighty rare, though.
It's a long shot, but you might try a Soundblaster driver..
You had an awe32, right?

yes the awe32 is in MMX
but very strange
i have tried it in p2 but not succeeded still no sound no driver
and when i put it back into mmx
the mmx also got no driver left
so now both are silent
except p2 has audio from gina
very weird?
