Multi-track Computer Based Recording

I'm fairly new to using my computer to record songs. Any suggestions on a good program for doing multitrack recording?

As far as the number of tracks I can't imagine really needing more than 16-32. Yeah, MIDI would help a bit, but isn't really necesary. For sound card I'm using the Sound Blaster Live Platinum.

I'll throw in my two cents -- n-track all the way! It takes a bit of fiddling to get MIDI to work the way you want, but otherwise I've had nothing but praise for it. I can get 12 tracks with effects no problem with a 400 MHz Celeron and 128 MB RAM running Win98 (I know Slack, I've been financially embarrased so I haven't switched to NT). I'm using a Soundblaster Live Value card, but wish I had the one with digital in/out...

Cool, I donwnloaded n-track last night and so far it seems to be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks guys. :) (Although it is crashing my system a lot, but I just need to fiddle around with it I think)
