Muffled/Noisy Recording problem

Hey homerecording!

So, I'm having an aggravating problem recording through my Rode NTK mic, Sonar Artist, Asus core i5 computer and tascam us-16x08.

When I first got everything together it was working perfectly

Now, I'm experiencing a muffled/ muddy low quality sound.

Ive had my equipment for about two months now.

All I did was switch room and reconnected everything.

Is the problem the mic or some of the settings?

I can give specifics if needed, but I have two recordings. One that is clear (flawless) the other that is muffled/muddy (Flawed}

They both have the same gains on it.

Thanks in Advance.

Are you sure that you're singing into the front of the mic? Believe me, it's happened before. Some mics don't make it immediately obvious which is the front and which is the back.

You know, I actually look at it and it was backwards. I'm going to test it out and see if that was the problem. Thanks !

I actually bought a brand new mic once and the diaphragm had been installed back to front, I knew this as I had another one of the same model. When I tested it I wondered why if sounded muddy until I figured it out.

Alan.
