Moving samples to another drive

I hope this conversation about piracy is not aimed at me!!

Anyway, back to the original discussion for a moment ;-), I have now started the process of transferring everything onto a nice, big, fast internal disk and in 17 hours (!) when the copying has finished I will know if it has worked as hoped. Fingers crossed.

One of the benefits of that copying (which I did not know until a week ago!) is that the copying process will 'unfragment' the copied data and store it as efficiently as possible.

Silver lining eh'?

Dave.

Indeed! In fact, having read a little more about it that's why I decided to copy/paste rather than clone the drive. I wasn't sure if a bit by bit clone would copy the same fragmentation that exists on the original drive. Whether it does or doesn't, I'm committed now so hopefully this time tomorrow I will be able to ditch the external drive (or rather use it as a backup).
