Total noob here.
I'm a guitar player attempting to enter the world of digital recording.
Just got a yamaha audiogram 3.
It came with Cubase AI5.
Had problems installing Cubase, so I went with Mixcraft 5(freebie).
I plug the gtr into the yamaha, then into the pc.
I have a backing track playing in Mixcraft.
Monitoring with headphones.
Even with my device settings at WaveRT, the best I can get is a 20ms delay when I play along.
ASIO gives me no sound at all.
Obviously this is not acceptable, but I don't know how to cure it.
My PC is a dual core 3.0gig cpu's, 2 gig ram, onboard audio, and I am running Vista.
I don't think my system is lacking.
I did manage to get Cubase installed, but I have the same problem.
How can I attempt to get synchronized with the backing track?
Will an aftermarket soundcard help, or am I just missing something in the setup?
