how can i use different soundcards simultaneously

i got an m-audio 2496 . i record using cubase sx 1.6. i wonder if i can use the maudio, at the same time with my onboard soundmax, and have 4 audio input channels?

hmm i'm not sure if you can do that. I could be wrong but i thought in order to do that you need to sync the soundcards up, usually with wordclock. Also the delta probably uses ASIO drivers, does the onboard sound use them as well? i'm not sure if that would be an issue but it is something to consider.
 
I haven't been able to make it work with my delta and built in sound card. It's one or the other unless your onboard card uses ASIO drivers, or you are not using asio drivers for your Delta...and the non asio drivers (direct x) for the delta do not seem to work as well.
 
You'd need to get another M-Audio card to increase the no. of inputs. It's not gonna work with the mobo sound
