I've been lurking these boards for some time now and firstly want to say thanks to you regulars who are so helpful and informative.
I'm currently using an unregistered(for now) copy of N-Tracks on a Diamond MX300 (Vortex2 chipset) soundcard. I'm using a generic PC microphone and playing my Acoustic Ovation into it. To be honest, I was taken aback at the quality of the recording I got using this Lo-Fi technique, but that's another story.
My question is: Is there any way to reduce the latency when trying to monitor what I'm playing in real-time? According to N-Tracks, regardless of what I'm doing I have never exceeded 5% CPU usage (Duron @950mhz; 380megs ram), so are there settings I could employ to reduce latency? My other question is would Using a 24/96 sound card like an Aardvark or Delta series help? Currently the sound out of my speakers is about 3/4 of a second behind what I'm playing and is to say the least a tad distracting
