I'm upgrading interfaces from an analog firewire 1220i mackie to an RME UC and a Mackie Big Knob. I will post my gear & pics to help you. The 1220i was easy to get going, but using 2 units together now and getting the routing correct is a bit difficult for me, because I haven't bought the UC or Big Knob yet, as I'd like to figure if the routing is possible before making the purchases.
What I want to do:
1) Control the volume of all audio from incoming hardware signals AND all audio from my DAWs and all other apps (basically all audio coming from PC & hardware gear) with the Mackie Big Knob, before the audio hits my monitors.
2) Run my turntable into the Mackie Big Knob's Phono Input and then have it go through the RME UC and into my computer recording DAW/program.
3) Be able to run any audio through the Big Knob and have it pass through into my hardware sampler, the Boss Sp 303, and have that audio go back into the PC.

- RME UC
- Mackie Big Knob
- AT LP120 Turntable
- SP 303 sampler (stereo in / stereo out)
- Roland JP-8080 (stereo in / stereo out) + connected MIDI In & Out to the UC
- Bass Station 2 (stereo in / stereo out) + connected MIDI In & Out to the UC
- CD/Cassette/FM player (stereo in/ stereo out)
