Help a newbie record into different channels...

Hi,

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to digitl recording, but at least I know a little, and I've recently bought some pretty basic gear.

I bought the external Edirol UA-25 soundcard, because I was thinking of recording guitar and drums into different channels, but at the same time.

How do I do that? Can I use freewares like Audacity to do it? So far, I've only recorded one channel at the time, and then put them together.

As I said, now I want to be able to play a song on the guitar and have a drummer playing at the same time.. The guitar goes directly to the line-in on my UA-25, and the drums goes in by a microphone. And when we're done playing, I want the guitar and the drums to be in separate channels...

Thanks!

(Sorry for my poor english, I'm a swede u know... :p )

Audacity (and many other sequencers) will let you split the stereo tracks.

In Audacity, you pull down the "Audio Track" on the upper left of the track to "Split Stereo Track"

(and it's in the HELP file, which you should ALWAYS read!)
