Hardware FX with Software Multitracker?

Has anyone succeeded in using either a PCI FX card (in the computer) or an outboard FX unit with a multi-tracker program such as N-Tracks or Cakewalk, etc.

I don't mean using insert type effects, (which would be obviously possible with an outboard unit), I mean using it to process tracks already recorded to the hard drive.

I guess this would be using the "aux send" type circuit...

Thanks,

Non lame genius here. Yea, I use mine all the time. You need a sound card with multiple outputs. You just assign a track to an output other than the left/right monitor pair and send that to your mixer where you treat it like any other analog signal.
