hard disk recording

i'm very new to recording and i have a question. i have a 24/8/16 aries mixer that a friend gave to me and i need to so some mutlitrack recordings. i need something to record up to 8 tracks at once and to mix down 8 tracks at once. i already have lots of outboard effects processors ,preamps, mics and a 900mhz computer with around 750 ram. what should i use to record this rock bands demo?
