good soundcard

The ambit of that question is far too wide for anyone to answer in less than an essay legnth paper. See previous posts.

It all depends on what you use it for and the number of tracks etc you will need to record simultaneously. The M-Audio Audiophile and the Echo Mia are both considered to be very good soundcards for the beginner.

what i plan to do with my soundcard

Record Vocals BASICALLY

and make beats with a drum machine

Mackie Mixer 1202 NT1 mic or MXL, NAdy

Art pre-amp

Programs

Cool Edit Pro

Cubase

LOgic platinum 4.7

Sonar Sonar XL

thats my basic setup

But I need a wayyyy better card than a fuckin Sound Blaster Live 5.1

Someone please help

The Audiophile will do you a great job for $149....

if you are getting an Art Tube preamp, there probably is no need for the Mackie mixer.....

The Marshall MXLv67 and the Studio Projects C1 are great mics for under $200.....

If you can swing $169 for a 2 channel preamp

You can hook this up to the S/PDIF ins of the Audiophile and plug your drum machine into the analog inputs....with this setup you can record 4 tracks at a time if needed....2 tracks for the drum machine and 2 tracks from the Art......

sweeet will that card be compaitbal with my programs listed above I only record no more than 3 at once the most i'll be mixing is 30 tracks (on the MIXDOWN) the C1 hmmm got ant links?
